The fresh dates will be declared in due course of time for information of Choir groups and music lovers in the State.

The 6th Tiatr ‘B’ Group Competition 2019-20 of Kala Academy Goa to be held from 17th March to 15th April 2020 in collaboration with Ravindra Bhavan, Vasco at the main auditorium of Ravindra Bhavan, Vasco has now been postponed in view of recent directives of Govt. of Goa.
As such, the Tiatr shows of the competition will not be staged from 17th March onwards. The fresh dates will be finalised in due course of time and will be intimated to the general public, tiatr lovers, participating Tiatr institutions etc.
All are requested to kindly take note of the same.
The results of the 45th Tiatr Competition ‘A’ Group organized by Kala Academy from 12th Feb to 4th March 2020 at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Panaji, have been declared and accordingly Tiatr “SORRY” staged by Machi Mogi Morjim Cultural Sanskrutic Saunstha, Morjim has been selected for first prize of Rs.1,00,000/-. Tiatr “POILO, XETKAR” staged by Alfi Art Production, Divar and Tiatr “DOLLE DHAMPCHEA ADIM…”. staged by Dramatic Troupe of Ribandar have won second prize of Rs.75,000/- and third Prize of Rs.50,000/-respectively. The Consolation prize of Rs. 25,000/- has been awarded to Tiatr “MOHEM (MASK)” staged by Britona Dramatic Academy, Britona.
The first prize for best acting in male category was bagged by Shri. Pradip Sinai Khandeparker for the role of Uncle Souza in the Tiatr “Dhago” whereas the second prize was awarded to Shri. Frazer Fernandes for the role of Frazer in the Tiatr “Sorry”. The merit certificates of acting (male) have been awarded to Shri. Anthony Carvalho – Roque (“Oxeim Ghoddom Ieta), Shri. Prasad Harmalkar- Gaspar (“Poilo, Xetkar”), Shri. Shivanand Naik – Andrew (“Oxeim Ghoddom Ieta), Shri. Santan Luis D’Mello – Luise (“ Ekach Rukachi Pallam).
The first prize for best acting in female category was awarded to Merlyn Rodrigues for the role of Eva in the Tiatr “Dolle Dhampchea Adim…. whereas the second prize in acting was bagged by Shanaya Pereira for the role of Annie in the Tiatr “Ekach Rukachi Pallam”. The merit certificates of acting (Female) have been bagged by Irene Cardozo – Angela (“Oxeim Goddom Ieta”), Ivy Pereira- Ivy (“ Podvedar”), Jlynna Fernandes – Sarena (“Mohem”).
The prize in Best Negative Role has been awarded to Ofelia Rodrigues for the role of Ophelia in Tiatr “Sorry” and the second prize was bagged by Cyril Fernades for the role of Inspector Melvin in the Tiatr “Sorry”. The merit certificates for negative role have been bagged by Prashant Paddekar – Bassappa (“Amchem Bhanddar”), Marta De Souza – Samanta (“ Ekach Rukachim Pallam”).
The Best Comedian- ‘Male’ prize was bagged by John Alexandro Fernandes for the role of Raju in Tiatr “Sorry”. The merit certificates were awarded to Mathew De Souza-Salvador(“ Poilo, Xetkar”), Christopher Menezes – Regie (“ Oxeim Goddom Ieta”), Fr. Milagres Dias – Chicu (“ Kazaracho Dis”).
The Best Comedian- ‘Female’ prize declared to Richa Fernandes for the role of Abigail in Tiatr “Dolle Dhampchea Adim…”. The merit certificate has been awarded to Madonna Fernandes – Felician (“ Mohem (Mask).
The Best Child Artist Prize in male category was bagged by Awish Agnelo Vaz for the role of Bondo in the Tiatr “Dolle Dhampchea Adim….”.
The Best Child Artist Prize in female category was awarded to Ruzane Colaco for the role of Bebuk for the tiatr “Dhago”.
The first prize for best direction was awarded to John Alexandro Fernandes for Tiatr “Sorry”. The second and third prize has been bagged by Alfredo Fernandes for Tiatr “Poilo, Xetkar” and Jose Luis Diogo Fernandes for Tiatr “Dolle Dhampchea Adim…” respectively.
The best stage set up award was bagged by Kapil Chari for Tiatr “Amchem Bhanddar”. The merit certificate for stage set up was awarded to Freddy Ferrao for Tiatr “Poilo, Xetkar”.
The best light effect award was secured by Deepak Amonkar for Tiatr “Mohem (Mask)” and the merit certificate was given to Satish Gawas for Tiatr “Dolle Dhampchea Adim”.
The best music band award was bagged by Senon Silvestre De Souza with merit certificates to his band members namely Semy Braganca, Fr. Rollalin Fernandes, James Vaz, John Fernandes, Cannon D’Souza for “Podvedar”.
The prize for best make-up award declared to Sadanand Gaude for Tiatr “Dolle Dhampchea Adim…”
The best costume award has been awarded to Pedro Rodrigues for “Sorry”.
The best background music award declared to Lenoy Gomendes for “Poilo, Xetkar”.
The first and the second prize for best singer male (solo) award was awarded to Pio Agnelo Fernandes (Bhurgim Devachi Denim) for Tiatr “ Selfie” and Shane Da Costa (Tiatr Ani Tiatrist) for Tiatr “Amchem Bhanddar” respectively. The merit certificates was bagged by Nazario Pinto for Tiatr “Selfie” and Roque Dias for Tiatr “ Sorry”.
The first and the second prize for best singer female (solo) was bagged by Avina Furtado (Oh Pai) for Tiatr “Poilo, Xetkar” and Nicia Gomes (Xristti) for Tiatr “Podveddar”. The merit certificates was bagged by Kimberly Gresha Fernandes for Tiatr “Selfie” and Natsalene Estrocio for Tiatr “ Amchem Bhanddar”.
The best prize for comedy solo male was awarded to Peter Camilo- Abdulla for tiatr “ Mohem (Mask)” and merit certificate was bagged by Hortencio Pereira for “Selfie”.
The Best Prize for comedy Solo Female was awarded to Ruchita Gomes – Rosa for “Podveddar”.
The best prize for child singer male(solo) has been awarded to Jonas Fernandes (TV Add) for Tiatr “Sorry”.
The best prize for child singer female (solo) declared to Carmel Fernandes (Nustekan) for Tiatr “Podvedar”.
The Best Choral Cantar Singing award has been bagged by Lynne Fernandes, Josepha Sequeira, Webster Fernandes (Bharot Des Mahan ) for Tiatr “ Oxeim Ghoddom Ieta”. The merit certificates were bagged by Josiah, Bolmax, Maurice, Luis Clarissa, Nicia, Queenela & Ruchita for Tiatr “ Podvedar”.
The best duet award was bagged by Pio Agnelo Fernandes and Assenca Fernandes for Tiatr “Selfie”. The merit certificates was awarded to Diptesh Harmalkar & Elaine Pinto for “Poilo, Xetkar” , Joyson Faleiro & Juella Fernandes for “Ekach Rukachim Pallam” & Custodio Cabral & Dr. Stacie Fernandes for Tiatr “ Amchem Bhanddar”.
The best Duo award was awarded to Candida D’Souza & Ninoshka Menezes for “Amchem Bhanddar”. The merit certificates was bagged by Shirlie Camilo & Clancy D’Silva for Tiatr “Mohem (Mask)’ , Doel Dias & Bolmax Pereira for Tiatr “ Podveddar” , Peter Fernandes & Jonas Fernandes for Tiatr “ Sorry”.
The best trio award was bagged by Everleigh Mascarenhas, Elaine Pinto, Frenzie Vito Rodrigues for “Poilo, Xetkar”. The merit certificates was awarded to Clancy D’Silva, Coralee Mendes, Damaceno D’Souza for Tiatr “ Mohem (Mask)”.
The best Quartet award was awarded to Sanifa Fernandes, Joshua Leo Barreto, Jonathan Barretto and Franzy Furtado for “Kazaracho Dis”.
The best lyrics award was bagged by Peter Camilo for lyrics of Cantar “Pension” in the Tiatr “Mohem (Mask)”. The merit certificate was awarded to Austin Socorro Rodrigues for lyrics of Cantar “Burgeacho Result” for Tiatr “Dolle Dhampchea Adim….” & Peter Fernandes for lyrics of Cantar “ Bailanxim Uloita” for Tiatr “Sorry”.
The first prize for the best script has been declared to John Alexandro Fernandes for Tiatr “Sorry” staged by Machi Mogi Morjim Cultural Sanskrutic Saunstha, Morjim. The second prize for script declared to Alfredo Fernandes for Tiatr “Poilo, Xetkar” staged by Alfi Art Productions, Divar.
Total 12 institutions participated in the competition. The judges who judged the performances in competition were Shri. Premanand Sangodkar, Shri. Anthony San Fernandes & Shri. Avito Fernandes. The lyrics and script were judged by Shri. Jose Maria M.T.T. D’Souza.
Kala Academy has congratulated all the prize winners. The prize distribution of this competition will be declared at later stage. All are requested to make a note of the same.

The last date for submission of entry forms for State Level Choir (Hymns) Singing Competition of Kala Academy has been now extended to 16th March 2020 by 4.00 p.m. The entry forms along with copy of rules & regulations are available in the Programme & Development Section of Kala Academy during office hours on working days.
There is no entry fee for participating in the competition. The competition will be held on Saturday, 21st March 2020 at Dinanath Mangeshkar Auditorium of Kala Academy at Panaji. The draw of lots of competition for deciding the sequence of performances will be held on 17th March 2020 at 4.30 p.m in the presence of representatives of participant choir groups.
The participating groups will be paid travelling allowance (transportation) of one vehicle as per the norms of Kala Academy, besides, will pay Rs. 3,000/- as preparatory expenses. The winners will be awarded with a trophy and 1st prize amount of Rs. 50,000/-, the 2nd and 3rd prize respectively carries an amount of Rs.30,000/- & Rs.20,000/-. There will be two consolation prizes of Rs. 10,000/- each. The judging will be done on the aspects of voice intonation and rhythm, harmony, expressions, music arrangement, costumes and overall impact.
The competition will be open to Goan artist’s choir groups, institutions and churches. As per the rules of the competition, each participating group shall have to present 3(three) hymns and the performance duration shall be minimum 10 minutes and maximum 15 minutes for each group and maximum 3 minutes time will be allowed for setting excluding the performance duration. Hymns are to be presented in Konkani language out of which one hymn may be presented in any other language. Each group shall have not less than seven(7) and not more than fifteen (15) participants including musicians. The groups shall perform in voices and the singers shall be allowed to participate in only one group. However, musicians may play in more than one group. While evaluating the performance the preference shall be given to live music.
The choir groups in Goa are requested to take a note of the above and submit their duly filled in entries in the prescribed format by the stipulated last date i.e 16th March 2020 at Kala Academy office during working hours.

Kala Academy Goa has declared the results of 45th State Art Exhibition (Student Category). Accordingly, Atharva Suduth Shenavi Mandrekar in the Painting and Graphic Print Section, Chaitanya Dattaprakash Sinai Kuncolienker in Applied and Graphic design section and Ashish Phaldesai in Sculpture section respectively have been awarded the first prize of Rs. 10,000/- each. Artists Prafulla Dahanukar Award of Rs. 15,000/- for the Best work in the exhibition has been declared to Rudra Rajendra Shirodkar for his work in painting & Graphic Print. The panel of judges namely Smt. Nirupa Naik, Shri. Sadashiv Vishnu Parab and Shri. Maendra Alvares judged this exhibition of competitive nature.
In Painting and Graphic print section, Shubham Vilas Palekar and Sairaj Rama Tari secured second and third prize respectively, whereas in Applied Art and Graphic design section, Sumit Naik and Akash Gaude have bagged second and secured third prize respectively. In sculpture section, Sahil Naik has been awarded second prize and Soham Shirodkar been selected for third prize. Prize sponsored by Goa Hindu Association in memory of Artist Late Raoji V. Gaunekar has been secured by Marcio Fernandes whereas Late Hanumanth B. Neugi Memorial prize has gone to Pratiksha Umesh Parab.
Kala Academy is organizing the State Art Exhibition for the last 44 years. This year, altogether –175 works were received in all the three sections and a total of 88 works were selected for display in the exhibition.
The exhibition will be inaugurated at the hands of Chief Guest Shri. Chokha Ram Garg, IAS, Secretary, Art & Culture, on 9th March 2020 at 4.30 p.m at Art Gallery of Directorate of Art & Culture, Govt. of Goa, Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto-Panaji. The exhibition will be on view for public 11th and 12th March 2020 at Art Gallery of Directorate of Art & Culture, Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto-Panaji from 10.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m on the above stated days of the exhibition.
Kala Academy has appealed to all the participants, fine artists and art lovers to witness the exhibition & inaugural function in large numbers.

Kala Academy has declared the result of Children Drawing Competition at State Level. The prize winners at Taluka level only in three categories, namely Primary level, middle school level and high school level were qualified to participate in the State level children drawing competition which was held on 16th February 2020 between 11.00 a.m to 12:30 noon at Mushtifund High School, Cujira-Bambolim.
