The results of the Konkani Drama Competition organized by Kala Academy have been declared and accordingly “She! Kavlo Apudla” staged by Ekdant Kala Sang, Panchwadi-Ponda have been awarded the first prize of Rs 1,00,000/-. “Liaran Jagche Kay Marche” staged by Yuva Ekvat, Bhoma-Ponda and “Hidimba” staged by Antruz Ghudyo, Bandora-Ponda have won second and third Prizes of Rs 75,000/- and Rs 50,000/ respectively. The Consolation prizes of Rs 25,000/- each were awarded to “Kutre” staged by Shree Naguesh Mahalaxmi Prasadik Natyasamaj, Bandivade-Ponda & “Waiting For Godo” staged by Rasrang-Ugvem.
The first prize for best direction was awarded to Shri. Deepraj Satordekar for the drama “She! Kavlo Apudla”. Shri. Vaibhav Naik for the drama “Liaran Jagche Kay Marche” and Shri. Anant Kamat Bambolkar for the drama “Hidimba” have bagged second and third prize respectively for the best direction.
The first prize for best acting in male category was bagged by Sai Kalangutkar for the role of Viplove in the drama “Liaran Jagche Kay Marche” whereas the second prize was awarded to Shri. Abhishek Naik for the role of Godke in the drama “Kutre” . The merit certificates of acting (male) have been awarded to Shri. Kunal Madhukar Borkar – Dada (She! Kavlo Apudlo), Shri. Prasanna Kamat – Chirmulo (Hidimba), Shri. Sachin Chowgule – Pozo (Waiting For Godo), Shri. Kedar Mestri – Manis (Vadalzuch), Shri. Gautam Damle –Haav (Kutre), Shri. Premanand Gurav – Dado (Vaat Fatodechi), Shri Rajendra Chari – Babuso (Rathotsav), Shri. Santosh Naik –
Chacha (Ashi Hi Ek Ghadnuk) and Shri. Siddhesh Marathe – Thanu (She! Kavlo Apudla).
The first prize for best acting in female category was awarded to Harshala Patil Borkar for the role of Shita in the drama “She! Kavlo Apudla” whereas the second prize in acting was bagged by Shefali Naik for the role of Arundhati in the drama “Liaran Jagche Kay Marche”. The merit certificates of acting (Female) have been bagged by Dikshita Mandrekar- Hidimba (Hidimba), Neha Gude – Durga(She! Kavlo Apudla), Sejal Divkar – Bayal (Kutre), Saisha Shirodkar – Bayul(She! Kavlo Apudla), Reshma Naik – Gangi (Pimpal Petla), Samrudhi Vaingankar –Prabhavati/Sahakalakar (Liaran Jagche Kay Marche), Sarita Mashelkar- Tanuja (Selfie), Pranita Kankonkar- Shantu (Greed), Tanashri Rane – Chitra (Vadalzuz) & Manasi Kerkar – Rajkumari (Itihas Dot Com).
The best stage set up award was bagged by Deepak Satordekar for the Drama “She! Kavlo Apudla” and merit certificate is given to Shri. Mohit Vishwakarma for “Hidimba”. The best costume award is awarded to Shri. Aniket Naik for the drama “Liaran Jagche Kay Marche” and merit certificate is given to Priyanka Gawas for the drama “(She! Kavlo Apudla)”.
The best light effect award is secured by Shri Vishal Gaonkar for the drama “(She! Kavlo Apudla)” and merit certificate is given to Vaibhav Naik for drama for Liaran Jagche Kay Marche. The best background music award is given to Chetan Khedekar for the drama “Hidimba” and merit certificate is given to Tanaji Gaude for “Kutre”. The best make-up award is awarded to Khusboo Kavlekar for the drama “Hidimba” and merit certificate given to Eknath Naik for “She! Kavlo Apudla.
The first prize for Script writing is bagged by Deepraj Satordekar for the play “(She! Kavlo Apudla)” and second prize for script writing is bagged by Dr. Tanvi Kamat Bambolkar for the play “Hidimba”. Prize for the best script translation is awarded to Shri Vasant Bhagwant Sawant for the play “ Liaran Jagche Kay Marche”.
The Competition was recently held at Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir, Ponda. The total number of entries received were 22 out of which only 15 plays were staged in this competition. The panel of judges consisting of Shri. Devidas Shankar Amonkar, Smt. Nita Desai & Shri. Shivnath Sadu Naik had judged the competition. Kala Academy has congratulated all the prize winners and the date of the prize distribution function will be declared at the later stage. All are requested to make a note of the same.

The 28th edition of the prestigious ‘Nupur’ – Classical Dance Festival jointly organized by Kala Academy Goa and West Zone Cultural Centre, Udaipur will be held on 10th, 11th, & 12th March, 2023 daily at 7:00.p.m with the courtesy of Shree Mahalasa Saunsthan, Mardol in the Temple premises of Shree Mahalasa Devasthan, Mardol- Goa with the participation of national as well as international repute artists in the field of Classical Dance. The festival will be inaugurated on the Friday, 10th March, 2023 at 6.45 p.m. at the hands of Shri. Premanand Kamat, President of Shree Mahalasa Saunsthan, Mardol in the presence of Shri.Vinesh Arlenkar, Member Secretary, Kala Academy Goa at the aforesaid venue. The performances with live accompaniment will commence daily at 7.00 p.m.
Kala Academy has invited top ranking artists of the country in various dance forms besides Goan artists of repute to perform in this festival. After the inaugural function on Friday, the 10th March 2023, Bharatanatyam (Group Choreography) dance will be presented by Saish Naik & Nidhi Raikar along with students of Kala Academy namely Manju Mahale, Aakruthi Tamanker, Gauri Shanbhag & Amisha Adkonkar under the guidance of Dr. Sapna Naik Lecturer in Bharatnatyam, Faculty of Indian Music & Dance, Kala Academy Goa. The first day’s programme will conclude with Kathak Dance by Sharvari Jamenis, Pune.
On Saturday, the 11th March, 2023, Kathak (Group Choreography) dance will be presented by Arpita Shirodkar along with students of Kala Academy Ms. Aryaa Rege, Ms. Sakshi Shetye, Ms. Shruti Gawas and Ms. Navami Naik at 7.00 p.m. under the guidance of Smt. Varada Bedekar, Lecturer in Kathak, Faculty of Indian Music & Dance, Kala Academy Goa. This will be followed by Bharatanatyam by Ramya Suresh from Bengaluru.
On the concluding day i.e. on Sunday, the 12th March 2023, Impana Kulkarni from Goa will present Bharatanatyam Dance at 7.00 p.m. The festival will conclude with Odissi Dance by Aarya Nande from Raigarh, Chhattisgarh.
The organizers have appealed the dance lovers, connoisseurs and students to attend the festival in large numbers. The programmes are open to all.

The 47 th State Art Exhibition of Kala Academy in the Students Category will be held between 21 st to 26 th March 2023 at the Art Gallery, Sanskruti Bhavan, Directorate of Art and Culture, Patto-Panaji. Entry forms along with the rules and regulations will be available at the Kala Academy’s office at Adilshah Palace, (Old Secretariat) Panaji from 3 rd March 2023.
The entries along with the exhibits will be accepted on 14 th & 15 th March 2023 between 10:00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and 2.00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Art Gallery, Sanskruti Bhavan, Directorate of Art and Culture, Patto-Panaji.
Entries after due date, time and incomplete entries will not be accepted. Kala Academy has appealed to all the interested Goan Artists to submit their entries along with the exhibits within the stipulated period.
