40^TH – SURASHREE  KESARBAI  KERKAR  SANGEET  SAMOROHA-2020-21

Kala Academy Goa is organising its 40^th edition of Surashree Kesarbai Kerkar Sangeet Samaroha from 29^th January to 31^st January 2021 at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Panaji, with the participation of a galaxy of top rated vocalists and instrumentalists of India. The festival which is rated amongst the top 10 music festival of India having glamour of its own, will be inaugurated by Dr. Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Govt. of Goa and Shri. Govind Gaude, Hon’ble Minister for Art & Culture, Govt of Goa & Chairman of Kala Academy Goa, on Friday, the 29^th January 2021 at 5.00 p.m at the Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Panaji.

After the inaugural function, Goan Young vocalist Ms. Prachi Jathar, disciple of Pt. Vijay Bakshi will present Classical Vocal Recital at 5.15 p.m on 29^th January 2021 followed by Instrumental Concert of Sitar & Indian Cello by Shri. Shubhendra Rao, disciple of Pt. Ravishankar & Smt. Saskia Rao, disciple of Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia. The first day’s session will conclude with Classical Vocal Concert  by Pt. M. Venkateshkumar, exponent of Kirana & Gwalior Gharana and disciple of Pt. Puttaraj Gawai.

All the concerts in the festival will be open to music lovers & general public. Some seats will be reserved. The admission to the concerts will be allowed by following all SOP’s of Covid-19. Wearing of face masks is compulsory and adequate physical distance will have to be adhered by the audience.

The festival will be live Streamed in association Kala Nation Banguluru.  on all 3 days and will be available on Youtube & Facebook on the following links for the benefit of Music lovers:

Kala Academy Goa in collaboration with Department of Information and Publicity, Govt of Goa is organising  ‘Sham-e-Gazal’ – a programme of Hindi Gazals on 26^th January 2021 from 6.00 p.m onwards at the Mini Open Air, near Green Lawns of Kala Academy. to mark the celebration  of  Republic Day.

The programme is conceptualised &  co-ordinated by well known Goan Gazal Singer, Shri. Vishnu alias Ajay Naik who is also the music arranger of this programme. Rajavi Naik & Vibha Alangudi. The Instrumental Accompanist for the programme will be provided by Suresh Ghadi (Keyboard),Rohit Bandodkar(Tabla), Ajit Phadte (Side rhythm and Dolaki), Satan Carvalho (Octopad), Jefry D’souza (Guitar), Sameer Malashi (Harmonium) and Dr Lata Naik will compere the programme.

The Gazal form which came in the Hindi Literature through Urdu became very popular through medium of Films. Gazal has become a inseparable part of many Indian Languages. Singers like Ghulam Ali, Pankaj Udhas, Jagjit Singh, and Begum Aktar are some prominent names who are instrumental in popularising Gazals amongst music lovers.  The Programme ‘Sham-e-Gazal’ will include some of the popular hindi film Gazals and will be presented by Shri Ajay Naik, Rajavi Naik & Vibha Alangudi.

All the music lovers and connoisseurs are requested to take note of the  above and attend the same by strictly adhering to all the prevalent Standard Operating Procedure guidelines of Covid-19, such as wearing of face mask, maintaining adequate social distancing etc.
