Kala Academy Goa is celebrating its Golden Jubilee of 50th Konkani Drama Competition on Friday, 10th July 2026 at 5.00 p.m at the Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Panaji. On this occasion, Shri. Pundalik Narayan Nayak, renowned playwright, will be honoured with Jeevan Gaurav Puraskar in recognition of his outstanding and lifelong contribution in the field of Konkani theatre and literature.
The symposium on the topic “Samakalin Bhartiya Rangbhoomir Konkani Natak” will be held at 3.00 p.m at Black Box with participation of theatre personalities Dr. Jayanti Nayak, Shri. Vasant Bhagwant Sawant, Shri. Nilesh Mahale and Dr. Narayan Kharade, Shri. Shridhar Kamat Bambolkar, will be the Chief Conductor for the said Symposium.
The main function will be held at 5.00 p.m at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Panaji. Dr. Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Govt. of Goa will grace the function as Chief Guest. Dr. Ramesh Tawadkar, Hon’ble Minister for Art & Culture, Govt. of Goa will be the Guest of Honour. Shri. Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar, Hon’ble Chairman, Kala Academy will preside over the function in the distinguished presence of Dr. Pravin Gaonkar, Vice Chairman, Kala Academy, Dr. Purnanand Chari, Chairman, Goa Konkani Akademi and Shri. Shankar B. Gaonkar, Member Secretary, Kala Academy.
Similarly, 30 artists under different categories will be felicitated. For Direction: Shri. Pramod Mhadeshwar, Shri. Nilesh Mahale, Shri. Mayur Mayenkar, Shri. Tulshidas Dhonshikar, Shri. Venkatesh Gaunekar, Shri. Prashant Satarkar, Shri. Shekhar Usgaonkar, Smt. Sukanti Nayak, Smt. Madhuri Shetkar, Smt. Gauri Kamat, Smt. Manuja Shet Narvekar Lokur, Smt. Khushboo Kavlekar, Light Effects: Shri. Siddharth Halarnkar, Shri. Vasudev alias Vikas Chopdekar, Background Music: Shri. Sachin Chowgule, Shri. Dilip Vaze Make-Up : Shri. Premanand Polle, Shri. Eknath Naik Costumes: Smt. Geeta Bambolkar, Smt. Natasha Mahale, Stage Setting: Shri. Kiran Naik and Shri. Yogesh Kapdi.
The prizes will be given to the winners of Konkani Drama Competition followed by Konkani Play “Pipal Petla” written by Shri. Pundalik Narayan Nayak and directed by Prof. Deepak Amonkar, to be presented by Repertory Company, Kala Academy.
Kala Academy appeals all the theatre artists, prize winners, participants and general public to attend the function in large numbers.
